| Saw one wash up on the beach a little north of bob hall today. Stopped by to check it out and it was around 6-7 foot. Some guy on the beach grabbed a filet knife and figured it would make a few good meals; after I told him it wasn't the best idea. He ended up filling his ice chest with it. Sounds like it might be the one you're talking about, which didn't survive the release. |

Did you let the guy know those fish are ILLEGAL to keep? Doesnt matter whether you found it dead or not. _________________ Casey

Actually Tarpon are legal to keep and harvest in the state of Texas if they are 85" or larger. But the fact he didn't catch voids it out. _________________ -Oz |

It ate a blue runner on a slide, David fought it on 100pound braid(on a senator 4/0 wide spool) for a little over an hour they worked it back to the beach he got in the water and tail roped it..from what i heard it was having a hard time swimming off but multiple people worked at it hard till it swam away..measured at 6foot _________________ http://www.youtube.com/user/Shark456Bait/featured

He told me his plans were to eat it. I explained to him that he didn't know how long it had been dead for, and that tarpon aren't the best eating fish, but he argued that a good marinade will make anything taste good. |

Next time, Call the game warden on his supple bum. If this guy is willing to illegally cut up a tarpon he FOUND, he obviously wont follow many more game laws in the future. A large fine for the tarpon would make him think twice.

I kinda agree even though it's wrong. It was going to rot, surely no one can afford to mount it. I think it's funny that someone wants to actually eat a fish that washed up on the shore possibly from a bad release. The crabs might have enjoyed it along with the gulls. Get the guys phone number maybe we could call him when a whale washes up on the beach. MAN vs FISH....... _________________ I LIKE MINE FRIED. |
