No, not really.
On the day trips they do not allow braid, although you can get away with it if you have a topshot that is 30' - 100' on top.
On the private charters they allow you to bring braid especially on the trips that target tuna and AJ .... they pretty much expect it.
On days trips you cannot bring ice chests or anything to eat or drink for that matter. On charters you can take ice chests and what have you.
Know the difference. |

Landlocked Beacgbum knows the difference between a "private-charter"/"forum-trip" and the regular daily head boat thrips that a couple of you fellows are nit-picking about. Tyler did a good job of explaining the difference......read the previous posts.

Having been on both, I prefer the Private Charter but sometimes that isn't possible. I have never had any real trouble with the gear on the head boats, it would just be fun to use my own tackle, but I have caught fish on the boats gear and the fish did not know the difference.

That I agree with, that's why on my last trip down I brought my own gear spooled with 60 lb braid and had a much more enjoyable/less strenuous time of it all.
On me knowing the difference between the two, I was speaking purely from my experiences with Deep Sea Headquarters, which were definitely "private charters", as espoused by Tyler.
