No really, it is on FIRE!!! LOL

Just got off the beach and thought I was driving up to a volcano or something. The beach was burning for a good 5+ miles heading north close to the blacktop.

And you can smell the smoke for a long way, thought the caller times said the rangers had the fire under control. Reckon not!

Started Saturday around 11am. The entire morning we did not have a problem with lightning and rain. Just a few scattered clouds mostly north. Out of no where a big dark full of lightning cloud came onshore. We headed for cover a watched it as it slowly passed. Saw the strike that set it off. I wondered if they have any strategy about trying to put them out or do they just let them burn.

Cool Pics Oz..... That explains why my allergies have gone nuts for the last 12 hours.... Normally I don't have many problems here on the coast but I am extremely sensitive to fire smoke....

Coyotes were howling pretty close to the house.... wonder if they are being pushed further into the development? Not that unusual to see em around here though....

Soooo, yay, we made it to PINS. Errrmmm, didn't think to check and see if the park was closed due to a FIRE! Camping at the Hawthorn Suites is not what I had in mind.

True that! I plan on eating seafood for dinner that I don't have to cook so any recommendations would be much appreciated. Nowhere too fancy since all we brought was fishing clothes! Haha?

Johnny D's had an awesome calamari appetizer last time I was there, which was a couple months ago. The rest of the food was fine too, but it didn't blow me away like the calamari did. Super tender and good sauce. Need to go back, now that I think of it. Flip flop friendly.

We were out at the fishing cabin this weekend and saw this as well. It looked really crazy Saturday night. We saw another lightning strike due west from our cabin that started a fire on King Ranch. It burned out or was put out pretty quick though.
