My Dad and I are coming down next week and we are looking for spots to fish.

Haven't seen anything out of shamrock so was wondering if it is not being fished or just not holding fish.

Any info would be great. I'd like to put him on some fish and return the favor from my childhood

last i heard there were some reds found out by the blue cabin by some yakkers...other than that, pirates and ghosts that want to break into your truck.

Good luck on your trip. Hopefully the karma that got your dad on the fish when you were a kid will work for you.
good luck and safe driving also, if you come down 35 the there is a Walmart in New Braunfels at the Walnut exit that is 2.97 (for regular unleaded).
good luck

I fished it a few weekends ago with nothing but small reds hooked and boiling mullet everywhere.

Two keeper reds, two keeper trout and lots of dinks yesterday. Caught on topwaters. Fished all day it was tough. I won't even consider Shamrock on weekends, way too crowded for me.

Head south just a bit and fish around the private pier and boat ramp on the southeast shoreline.... Limits of Big Reds and 20+" Trout... Trout are deep close to the end of pier, reds are 15' off beach.

I was parked at Wilson's cut last week. Me and my Daughter had a great day of fishing Shamrock. when we returned we discovered some peckerwoods cut the converters off my truck. Wish I would have drove up on them, dummies used a torch.

I'll be honest. With all of the crime reports going on I wonder if I might find somewhere else to start traveling to to get some saltwater fishing in.

Sounds like the criminals are taking over and the cops aren't following through when folks give them reports.

i grew up fishing this area since the early 80's....now days, when i head down and want to hit my old favorite holes, i take the big boat out and launch at Billings, then head that way via boat...sux because i use to drive in, park at yellow gate get out and wade without worry, but now...forget it, just ain't worth it anymore.

Something about the Laguna draws me back everytime. I just can't fish anywhere else and enjoy it. I just lock up my stuff (all the hatches in my boat are lockable, and that seems to deter the common thief), and stay in the safest areas I know.

Damn, catalytic converters? That's a new low. I knew they would strip them out of junk cars for the platinum, but never heard of them being stolen. Man I can just picture starting up the truck only to here the sound of straight pipes and thinking WTF. Brutal...
