I haven't heard much hype about it since it opened. We plan on taking our 12 year old grand daughter. Is planning three or four hours reasonable amount of time to plan on?

Driving over the causeway and noticing the lack of park visitors, I would think you could experience the entire waterpark in three or four hours. Biggest line I've seen so far was three people waiting to go down the tall slides. The parking lot rarely has over 40-50 cars in it.

We took the kids on Saturday and they had a great time. There were scattered showers so it wasn't super crowded. It's expensive, eat before you go, don't worry about renting a tube unless you plan on floating in the little river loop. 3-4 hours should be plenty of time.

I've heard it is expensive as well. Good trade off vs. standing in lines all day long.

The rain had nothing to do with the crowds. Nobody is going to the park regardless of weather. I drive past it twice a day most days and have never seen it crowded. Should be a good indication of how Shatterbahn will fare. I'm afraid we may have to stare at two eye sores in the not so distant future. Skeletons of what were to be the saviors of CC, built to drag us from the ruinous, stagnant mire we have become stuck in. I hope I'm wrong, but I don't see where the influx of tourists are expected to come from. With waterparks already established near all major metropolitan areas, I don't see why one here would convince folks to drive further than needed to enjoy a waterpark. Sorry for the mini rant/hijack.

As for prices, I too have heard it's expensive.

TD I'm pretty sure the fact is fewer people want to go to a water park when it's raining!

And as far as CC becoming a thriving tourist destination...this town has been populated with people of similar mentality who are against any kind of growth probably ever since it was founded so I don't think you have to worry about any explosion of tourism in our lifetimes.

That

While there is no doubt less people frequent waterparks in the rain. But that doesn't explain the countless other times that there was no one there and it wasn't raining. I'm not anti development. Just for responsible and sustainable development.

Probably because it is a half-arsed attempt at a water park. The locals can't afford it and tourists have seen much better.

I'd rather have an half assed water park than a flourescent purple flea market that's open one day a week, and looks like a giant pile of crap 7 days a week.

Or another used car dealership... that seems to be popular in corpus.

Or maybe a contest on SPID for who can have the tallest sign..

you guys DO remember what was there prior to the water park, right?

I agree Bluffer, that's the draw for me.
