Hello all. I will soon be a familiar face to all who fish PINS. My family is in the process of relocating to Corpus from the Philadelphia suburbs. The northeast is crippling industry and shows no hope for refinery work.

I fish the Jersey shore year round, several times a week. Spring and fall we target striped bass migrating the coast. Summer is flounder time with a mix of bluefish and sharks.

I know the gulf is a whole new world Shocked . I need some advice on some equipment and a truck. Right now I throw a 12' Ocean Master (6-12oz) with a Penn Sargus 6k and a 9' St Croix w/ Penn Battle 5k for plugs/artificials. The style for bass is heave heave heave with big bait and heavy weight, will that still be the case for the reds?

As far as a truck goes I'm looking for something 'good' on gas. Doesn't have to be amazing. If I can get away w/ a V6 that would be ideal. I'll be driving the beach frequently so traction and balls will be first priority.

Really hoping to get to know you guys and get some feedback before I make the journey. I'll be settled in January!

The Liberty Bell used to be there, but I think Obama sold it to the Chinese.

It's where they make bad picante sauce and you can be hung for it.

Any striper setup will work fine in the surf for just about anything if you are tossing bait.

Start throwing some heavy plugs or spoons and you'll get a few more interesting things.

Once you hook your first Jack Crevalle you will forget all about striper. Wink
