We usually fish the bays when I go down, but boat is in the shop for an extended period during our annual trip, so we would like some advise on possibly fishing the surf with my teenage boys. We will be staying at Rockport, but we will be traveling to mustang island or PINS, just depending where the better spots might be. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated (possible areas to try, bait vs artificials, etc)
Thanks In Advance. |

Id go to pins and start fishing around the 15 mile marker. Use a Carolina rig with live whatever you catch in the cast net hooked in the tail, or if using lures go with top water skitterwalks or jr spooks. Mannolures in 1/2 oz work excellent for Spanish maks. Fish the wade gut, then between the first and second sandbar. Don't use a stringer! Also for some good eating, take some squid or shrimp and put some whiting in the box. Use a double drop leader and #1 or #2 hooks. _________________ Vegetarian (n)...Old indian word for bad hunter |

| Buy some shrimp flavored fish bites (fishin' strips) use them with or without real shrimp for anything in the surf. |
