headed down to aransas pass from Schertz just north of SA.is it better to take 181 all the way down or IH37? I know 181 has a lot of little towns on the way down plus its 30 miles closer but you can go 70 mph down IH 37.opinions pkease

To me it's 6 one way, half a dozen the other. Sometimes I go the "backway" for a change. D.

37 is a white line nightmare.
and it's closer if you take 181 going to either of the Aransas's
I'd comment on the Fuzz but you being from Shertz, you already know about speed traps right... |

Im not sure if you are towing anything with you or not. Keep in mind that I-37 is 2 lanes and 181 is only one. The increased oilfield traffic on 181 makes it too much of a hassle for me. The big trucks are either going too slow or trying to run you over with very few places to pass. You could always run down 37 and cut over to sinton on CR 188 just south of Mathis.

37 is the fastest. 181 is the "scenic route" (or nostalgic). I'm wary now because of all the accidents around Kenedy, etc but it may not stop me. Our usual mo is 37, down & (sometimes), 181 back to SA.
