well after borrowing my dads old 9wt cortland rod for a year to see if i liked slingin bugs in the salt ive decided to purchase my own. i mostly flyfish the surf, jetties and some back bays and it will double as a bass rod as well. ive had my eyes on the tfo ticrx 8wt and the bvk 8wt. it will be paired with a colton reel. which one would yall recommend? i do like the idea of the extension for the ticrx for a 2 handed rod. opinions please as i do not have the funds to purchase both. thanks!

Ti CRX - has the backbone to punch flies into the wind at the coast at a very affordable price. 4-piece, 9' 8 wt.

Go to Roy's and look at the 8 weight G. Loomis Pro4X. It is the latest from Loomis at a very reasonable price. It casts easier and weighs less than the rods you mentioned.

I've really enjoyed my TFO BVK 8wt for all around bay fishing but, if you are going to be chunking larger flies in the surf, I'd recommend the TiCrX as well.
