How far down the beach is the pass that lead back to the bay? Also if you drive down as far as possible south on PINS do you dead end into a jetty. I gave driven down 10-15 miles before and it seems like the gut drops off faster and deeper than it does closer to BHP. Is that something that you should look for? I want to try live bait, last year I caught some trout a mackerel and a bunch of skip jack but tried live bait twice and nothing but gaff top.

the pass is 15 miles down, and yes if you go 60 miles you dead end at the port mansfield jetties. the guts generally get deeper the further you go. i've always had the best luck with mullet, you can catch just about anything that swims with them but if i'm targeting trout I like to use lures. get u some man-o-lures (and wire leaders) if your goin after mackerel or bonita

Unlike the artificial pro I gladly soak croakers and think I am pretty proficient but never fished the surf until last summer and do not have much of a clue! Lol

Roger that.

Also, don't be afraid to move if the fishing isn't wat you want.
