Its OK Stan, you will not lose man credits. In fact increasing your productivity has always been rewarded in most civilized societies. I have caught my share of fish with lures and still do during the winter but if croaker are available WHY NOT? Pride is one of the seven deadly sins and so is gluttony. I chose gluttony with croakers.
Thanks for the tips Mike. Snuck away and left serious work matters to burn in hell with me while I commit my favorite sin. _________________ Wish I Were in Baffin

Because anyone can go out in the Laguna and catch fish on croaker. |

You should be a guide then because if you can make that statement proven true you will be the most sought after guide in Texas. _________________ Wish I Were in Baffin |

I'm not about that... Tricking fish into biting a piece of plastic takes more skill that achoring up and using croaker, you can't deny that.
All these fish were caught on lures within the past year with my old man. Ya'll keep soaking bait and I'll keep throwing plastic.

| And depending on the time of year and conditions, anyone can do it on plastics or on tops or on spoons or on flies. Just not right now with BT. The guys posting up now that are having trouble even with bait are a pretty fair lot of experienced fishermen - lures included. |

Personally, I like to use what the fish like. If they like artificials, that is what I'll use. If they prefer live, then I'll use that. Fishing is about enjoying the outdoors and getting away from it all |

Nope, not everyone can go out and catch fish on croaker, I started this thread to see if I could help them out not have someone hijack it and pound his chest on how many fish he and his dad have caught on lures this year. I really don't give a $$hit.
I'm sure I've caught more fish in one mornng on lures than you have caught in a year but I didn't start the thread by saying I can catch more fish on lures than croaker.
Dude if you don't like throwing croaker and you seem to think your better than everyone else good for you but don't hijack my thread.

Thanks for the info Capt. Mike.
And as for you Smak attack, I can attest that not all of us can catch fish soaking croaker. I've pretty much made an art out of not catching fish on croaker. While I do well with shrimp never have got the hang of fishing Croaker.
I've never liked people saying I oughta fish plastics rather than live and would never tell anyone they should fish live instead of plastics. I'm for using what ever will get a fish to bite......... Which is exactly why I applaud the Capt. for providing info that might help me and mine. |

Capt. Mike, once again this only proves that no good dead goes unpunished!
Thanks a bunch for posting and the info. I for one have it stored in the old noodle and can and will be using it at some nebulous time in the future. You're a stand up guy as always! _________________ Dave

Hey Smack-Attack35, you impressed me so much I'll recommend to Tyler that you can do the weekly ULM report for everyone. He also likes to get tips on how, where, live bait or lures (colors) and any other information that you might want to share. You'll need to get the report in by Thursday afternoon so he can have it ready to post up before the weekend.
I'm sure you'll receive all kinds of PM's asking for tips, so put on you thinking cap. I'll bet you can come up with some type of B/S.
I promise I will not hijack any of your threads.
Hope all you guys can use his information.
I'm done......

Well said, Mike.
Hey Smack...Where does one get the holyier than thou gene? Please let me know so I can stear clear of your family and offspring. Maybe we can breed it out of existence. Until then, I will use croaker and shrimp and mullet and lures to catch fish... _________________ 1.2.3,4,5. once i caught a fish alive.

To say "anybody can catch fish with croaker" is 100% FALSE.
I've seen more people think that is the case and not catch crap. Just like anything else you gotta know what you are doing, from the tackle used, to the knot tied, to how you keep them alive, to if you even know you just got a bite. Lures are my favorite, but to think you are above and beyond croaker fishermen is bs, some people don't have the ability to throw lures. Thanks Capt for the encouragement, there are alot of down and out locals that needed that. |
