forecast built a little bit, now calling for knee high chop all the way. Water might be mucked up by the beach but maybe clearer offshore? We are going to give it a shot at the near gas stand off bob hall and hope for the best. Will post a report win/lose/draw this afternoon.

My bud and I just got back. No fish caught. We launched from near bob hall in knee high surf at 8am. Beyond the surf there were 3ft swells with very short periods, choppy as hell. Made it hard to troll baits. We got the the stand and there were birds working a little bit at the rig, but also many pods for about a mile northeast of the rig. Looked like bonito running about, we couldn't get them to take anything. Tried different sized manolures, spoons, rapalas, gotchas, I did get one bite but no hookup on a storm paddle tail.

When the crowds showed up, the fish scattered. Forgot to mention, as we were arriving, a guy had just flipped his yak, lost his rod, and was on his way back in (he thought I was shark bait... I need to shave and get a haircut I guess Embarassed Embarassed ). He was flying solo. Very fortunate he was OK. He was alone out there before we got there.

Two other kayakers and 3 other boats showed up, most of them dropping bottom, didn't see any fish caught. After a work out, we cam in around 11. Ran into stxoutdoors on our way off the beach, he was about to launch. Water quality in the surf and pretty much the whole way was slightly murky green, visibility about 10 feet at best. TONS of jelly fish everywhere. Coming back in the surf had built a little bit. I had no problem getting through it, using my paddle to keep my nose towards the beach. My buddy turtled in 3 feet of water, didn't lose anything except his dignity. It was an adventure, we stayed safe, played by the rules, and didn't catch any fish. But another notch in the belt, and another adventure.

Congrats on a safe trip. (I put in a request for safe passage this morning) Sometimes you just have to push through conditions and see what you can find. Very Happy

I never realized it when I had a powerboat, but they sure shut the fish down when they first arrive. Things turn back on pretty quickly, but there is a definite temporary effect. No, boaters, I'm not hatin', I'm just impressed at the change when a boat idles up to a shallow rig.
