Hello South Texas Emergency Managers, Media Partners, and Spotters,

Quick update for this morning.

...Strong to Severe Storms, Heavy Rain, Localized Flooding, and Hail the Size of Quarters this Morning...

A cold front has stalled across the Coastal Bend this morning. At the same time, an upper level disturbance is moving into the region. With the stalled cold front boundary, there will be training of thunderstorms across the same areas allowing local pockets of 3 to 5 inches causing localized flooding. Also along the stalled front, some storms will become strong to severe, where some storms are exhibiting rotation as they come across the stalled front. Storms can quickly become severe or tornadic with large hail, damaging winds and dangerous cloud to ground lightening, particularly east of highway 77. The threat will remain elevated through at least through early afternoon. There is a severe thunderstorm watch issued for counties east of highway 281 continues through 3 pm. Please report severe weather reports to the National Weather Service.

...Dangerous Rip Currents and Minor Coastal Flooding Continues...

The strong winds over the past few days have produced rough surf with large period swells. This is resulting in a High Risk for Rip Currents, which will continue through Today. Both the strength and frequency of these rip currents are resulting in surf that is dangerous for all levels of swimmers. Also, water may reach the dunes along the barrier island, and low lying spots along the bays, during high tide. A Coastal Flood Advisory also remains in effect. Please report any problems caused by minor tidal overflow.

Missed the morning news, and went fishing. Rain didn't bother us, but we left once the lightning started (why convert fishing poles into lightning rods if you don't have to LOL).

3" of flooding in my front yard (Yeah, I have lake front property now LOL).

Hoping the storms pass and we can go back out. Gotta' break in the new poles on something other than hardheads...
