Hey y'all! I got the chance to go up to Lake Fork this weekend and just wanted to see if anybody has any pointers on what I should look for this time of year and what I might use to catch the hogs! We will have a boat but really no previous experience with this lake. I have heard that the tree stumps are a great to fish but you have to be careful when you are on step with the boat because of their abundance. Can anyone confirm? I know that the largemouth are starting to move in close to start their spawn but are their any other particular places to look? Thanks,
Zack

buzzbaits have always worked well for me this time of year but do NOT go on the water if the wind speed is 10+. A few years ago I was on the lake for the first time and winds were pretty calm when we went out. We were near the end of the lake we had launched from the dock at the motel we were staying at. Well it started to get dark and we pulled out of the cove we had been fishing in and all hell broke lose! Whit caps 6'+ im not lying! Us in are 20foot nitro were scared to death my dad tried to get it back to the dock but night was coming fast and we were getting destroyed! He couldn't control the boat anymore and the waves were crashing over the nose of the boat. He told me to call 911 they sent out 3units trying to find are exact postion on the lake. By this time my dad and I had worked to get are boat near the shore line and tied off on a dead tree and we could see the police units on the bridge flashing there lights but they could not see are spotlight which we were trying to signal with. 911 rederectided us to tpwd they said sorry but it is to hazardas for us to take are rescue boat out, a 24foot skeet with two 225 on it. They then said the waves were getting to atleast 8foot. Are boat was taking water on fast! 911 said they would have to send out a helicopter to find us...at this time we thought we were gonna lose the boat and have to swim to shore. They said other units were still searching for us. About 10mins later 4fire fighters walked along the shore line shines there spot light at us. We were to far away to throw a rope to them to pull us in. So we took a 6oucne weight tied it to one of our rods and tied a small line to the weight as well and casted it as far as possible to the shore and the fire fighters pulled us in. They saved are lives that night a, we tied are boat up to the shore and by the punding it was taking we didn't expect to see it in the morning.next morning my dad got a ride from tpwd to where we had tied are boat off and it was still there. Lake fork is a amazing lake but also a very dangerous lake!
