There are by far a lot more things going on in this town that people should be concerned about. If people really think this hurt any fish then something ain't right.

Flying redfish?? Looks like I need to invent redfish decoys so duck hunters can add them to their spreads.

I don't think any fish was hurt any more than having a hook in its mouth and Lord knows those folks objecting to the fling release are not like those folks who want fish to be called "sea kittens".

I think the biggest objection is respect for the resource. Have you ever seen Jimmy Houston, Roland Martin, Bill Dance or Hank Parker, insert your favorite fishing show host here ______ release a fish like that? (you don't have to kiss it like J. H. however)

Again I don't think it is a huge deal or anything and it is nice to see others opinions on what will eventually go down being known as the "Spring Fling" thread. Razz

It's been so long since I caught a fish it would be nice to get to "toss" one back (figure of speech here only) Laughing

From TPWD The Ethical Angler:
Respects other angler's rights
Respects the rights of others who use the resource
Keeps only the fish he/she wants
Never wastes fish
Releases unwanted fish carefully and unharmed
Never litters or pollutes the waters
Knows and follows angling and boating regulations Continually seeks new knowledge and skill
Shares his/her knowledge with others
Promotes the sport of fishing

Looks like someone requires a refresher course on catch and release.
