My buddy Richard was kidding me about my net when we went fishing this morning. He said he thought it was to small. He was almost right.

One the most colorful big Drum I have ever seen.

One more thing, are these type of trot lines legal, the ones hung above the water like this one?

That is a pretty big-ugly, if that makes any sense.

On a side note, i saw lots of trot lines out there today, legal ones, that were loaded with reds. I hope they didn't get kept. I know bycatch is a necessary evil of all fisheries but it kinda sad to see a bunch of halfdead redfish about to die for nothing.

I thought it might be illegal. The old timers told me that Nighthawk bay used to be covered by trot lines suspended over the water like this one to the extent that you could hardly get a boat back in there.

This one is right next to the bird nesting island of the end of Pita. If you go down the Pita channel its hard to miss it. Seems like a bird could get tangled up in it pretty easy.

WTH is that line? That scares the heck out of me considering how I run around in my boat before sunup during duck season.

It right here and it looked new enough. Its in shallow water but you could run into it with the right boat for sure.

might be something a game warden would be interested in...the trotline, not the ugly..but then again, he might be interested in both
