Had to get a fishing fix before the weekend. Stopped at Dimmit after work for what was supposed to be a 45 minute wade for some dinner trout. It ended up being an hour wade with a 20 minute battle with a beast of a black drum. I was fishing with the breeze at my back throwing the famous TTF white belly soft plastic for trout when i heard a trout pop behind me. I turned and started fishing into the wind and into the sun in search of that trout I thought I heard. I was standing in about knee deep water when I noticed a huge tail fan out of the shallow water about 75yds away. I assumed it was a red and started my slow stalk. Upon getting closer I noticed it was no red. The tail had a distinct black drum look. Once I crept into casting range the first cast was aimed just behind him but he was spooked as my line ran across his back. After a couple of minutes he showed up with his tail out of the water again. It took about five casts before I put it where he wanted it. I literally had to drag the lure under him to get him to take it. Once he found it and I felt the pull, I set the hook for a battle I won't soon forget on my curado e7. After about a good solid 20 minutes with short strong runs I tired him out and into my net he went. I had no scale nor ruler to measure him but I estimate him at about 35". This is my biggest black drum I have ever caught. After I snapped a couple of pics I carried him back into the water and off he went with no help. I watched him swim ever so slow into the deep from which he came.

Kudos...It's nice when you have a limited time on the water and can get into a solid battle.
