Turned and hit the beach by the horse stables just south of Bob Hall. It was real foggy on the beach and I could not even see the pier. Drove south a little ways and the beach combers and joggers would just pop out of the fog. Made a stop thinking I would wait for the fog to clear a little. Got a couple rods out with shrimp/fishbites and caught some big hardheads. It cleared a little so I went south of the bowl and tried a new spot. These pics are after it cleared up a little!

Whiting started hitting and I was real busy just trying to keep two rods out. I was rebaiting one line and the other rod had a fish on when I see it bend over and line starts flying out. It had a good run and then it was dropped. When I brought the line in the back half of the whiiting was gone. Same thing happened a little later with another whiting that was hooked. There were some toothies out there for sure this morning. Around 8:30 something bigger than a whiting hits my bait and has the LDX bent over. Ended up being this 28" drum.

In the next hour or so I caught three pomps and a bunch more whiting. The largest pomp was this one that was 2.5lbs. It looks small next to that drum.

The water was not pomp looking at all but i guess they were hungry before the cold front. Everything shutdown for me about 10. The front started to blow in about 10:45 and I could finally see everything on the beach.

Turned out to be a good morning. I had not caught a pomp since January 2011 so they were a welcome surprise. They are going to be great eating tomorrow!
Everyone have a fun and safe Superbowl!
