this summer was my first time to try surf fishing, and loved it. I moved back home to Austin last august, and have a chance to come down in feb. I have never caught a pompano and have wanted to for a long time. But i sold my truck, so i dont have a 4x4. all i have is a AWD subaru. What tips can you experts give me. Thanks, and love this site.

you should be able to access the jetties w/o a 4wd, and Pompano have been caught in Port A jetties on the surf side. pink fish bites work according what my buddy who lives there says.

AWD is a lot better than you give it credit. No wheel is allowed to slip without it cutting in the drive gear. One friend of mine took his AWD all the way down the M jetties several times and he never needed a pull. he always drove with us just in case but it worked just fine.
