Paddled out into the bay with a DOA shrimp tied on. I got rained on a little, but it was glassy calm and quiet

Started getting bites fast. I landed 5 dink trout on the DOA shrimp

little cute trout

rain came again and so did the bites

i took off the DOA shrimp and hooked a gulp shrimp through the tail with the same hook first one on the gulp

getting them with the gulp shrimp

THE SUN

the trout were getting bigger i got this one a few feet from the yak

best fish of the day 23 inch trout he was fat and put up a big fight

revived and released i almost kept him cause i hooked him a little deep but he swam away good

he put a big smile on my face Smile

last pic on the paddle home glad the weather was good long enough to let me go catch a few

trout count=9 Cool

Nice fish, good report. I like the shot of the trout putting on a show. Ever try using subsurface plugs?

Well, to be honest I use topwater lures (Top dog, Super Spook &SS Jr etc...) the same way I use subsurface plugs - 'Walk the dog'.

The lure will move side to side while retrieving when you make rhythmic twitching with the rod tip followed by pause in reeling or reeling without twitching the rod tip. To ensure this action happens slowly keep reeling in slack in the line as your moving the rod tip up and down to keep making the lure move side to side. Most times a strike will occur during a pause/slow reeling between rhythmic twitching.

As for types of lures I'll generally use a Corky, if its rougher water I'll use a Mirrolure 51MR, and if its choppy I'll throw a Catch 5000.

Very cool man!

I'm still wondering when y'all are going to catch on to swim baits: You can rig them weedless and EVERYTHING slams them!!!! Shocked

http://www.swimbait.com/techniques/index.html With a keel weighted hook they can popped, thrashed or simple paddled on the surface or fished REALLY slow, allowed to sink and then popped just like and injured fish. On a jig head they can be fished much faster to get the tail trobbing and cover lots of water.

its a pretty tough reel i noticed its getting a little grainy when i reel but i have had it for two years now and im really hard on my gear i have landed big fish on it as long as u wash it out each time it should last. The Symetres have shielded bearings i like them too Cool
