(Corpus Christi, Texas) Superintendent Joe Escoto announced today that entrance fees will not be charged to visit Padre Island National Seashore on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, November 11, 12 and 13, 2011.

whoopee. free day with red tides to choke you and lots of hard heads to puncture your tires. Guess the local tire shops finally got smart enough to slip a bribe to the super out there to help their business during the red tide hard head killing spree.

I'm sorry, that was totally un-called for. just me being pessimistic today.

Attendance numbers are probably down. Hard to keep the same funding for all the new rangers with declining gate numbers.

It's my understanding that all National Parks have free admission for everyone on this Veterans Day weekend. Not just PINS.
