It is not illegal to whop a bird on the head with a big propeller blade, you just caint shoot endangered species, migratory birds out of season, etc.

Natural Gas.

All day, every day.

The problem with wind turbines is that they are HORRIBLY inefficient, there's no way to 'store' energy, and they never pay for themselves...all those turbines in Taft...yup, government subsidized, which means, YOU, ME, and anyone paying taxes pays for them.

FYI...Texas is THE Saudi Arabia of NG.

How about something that doesn't produce emissions.

I would think that the predators would eat the fallen birds before anyone would get a chance to go and inspect around the base of each windmill.

The feathers would still be there. And the way todays media is any kills would not go unreported.

It would be tough to estimate numbers killed based solely on a pile of feathers, don't you think? As for today's media..........things happen on private property everyday that go unreported.

I applaud Billy for speaking up about the negative aspects of placing wind turbines off-shore of PINS. I disapprove of having to look at the span of red lights while making our way to an early morning Baffin Bay duck hunt and I hate the thought of looking off-shore of PINS and seeing wind turbines.

One more thing that does not make sense (or work) that the government is trying to push down our throats.

Yep just like I thought no one has a real solution. As for the natural gas, all our vehicles should run on natural gas or propane, it burns cleaner than gas and your oil doesn't turn black. As far as wind turbines maybe they could make one like those Dyson fans....they don't have blades, well they don't have propellers.

just noticed that the anti profanity feature does not like The first word of the dog breed co_ker spaniel. Funny.

I don't disagree...and I am willing to bet dollars to donuts that there are those in the private sector and government arenas that are researching just that...but right now, a viable form of energy production for electricity that produces no emmisions does not exist. Wind Turbines, Solar, Hydro...all produce power with no emissions, but they completely are horribly inefficient.

In terms of emissions, NG is far cleaner than oil, and like I said earlier, until this country is willing to get over the fear of nuclear power...we're whizzing in the wind. Heck, if the darn FRENCH can get nuke plants correct...WHY CAN'T WE?

I love what Billy has done and his thoughts on conservation but this one i am not to sure about. This is not the first wind farm in a migration area and I would love to see actual data about the kill off of these migratory birds.
Birds are not all that dum and i am sure that when they see giant windmills in the air that they will move around them with out a problem as they do not stretch for 100miles wide.
IF the data comes back and shows that there are massive bird kills then i will gladly retract my thoughts and will agree with Billy.

I love the effort but it is realistic.

Billy's point was that the bait fish will see the turbines as structure, and the birds will follow the schools into the wind farm.

Nuclear power is awesome. What is not awesome is the egg that surrounds it. They need an unbreakable egg. Look at what happened in Japan.

I AM AN IDIOT. I DID NOT READ THAT PART. I only thought it was about the ones on land. Which did make your comment funny to me as I did not know bait fish could see to Taft!!!

OK then yes I agree with Billy and sorry for the confusion.

BUT that would be a fun place for Kayaks to go as it would always be cool from the big fans and it would break the choppy waters.
