Met up with a bunch of TO members and did a clean up at the Oso by the base. Weather was calm, sunny and no winds. On the way home from the clean up I called Mary and told her to get ready, we're going to the beach.
We Head to PINS and when we get there the conditions did a 180. Clouds, wind and chilly. Mary finds a skippie on the shore by the truck and I immediately put it on my 2 poles and put them out. Withing minutes I get 2 nice whiting. Cut one up for bait and put it out. Within minutes Mary is saying "you have a bite". Pull in a 35,75" red.
That was it for red fish for the day. Did catch 5 nice whiting and 5 blues that were released.
We finally succumbed to the aerosols. Eyes burning real bad and cough almost non stop. Picked up and started for home. I knew Rabbit (aka gate crasher) and bluffer were by the sticks so we stopped to see how they were doing. Rabbit caught a 36.5" red and some small whiting. Red tide didn't seem as bad there as on PINS. Drove the beach toward BH and the dead fish were much worse than yesterday.
Most dead fish were mullet and perch but did see 1 red and this jack. Also saw a bunch of dead birds along with the fish.
Looks like the red tide is increasing intensity. |

Nice talking to ya out there Z. Ya the red-tide aerosols got worse later in the day as well as the bites. We finally went in around 330 or so,
Heres a pic of Rabbits red and only decent fish of today.

| Thanks for the report. I was on the island last night at a friends house and the red tide was burning my throat. I wonder what was going on with the dead birds??? |

I was always under the impression it did not affect the birds. I did some research and you gentleman are correct. I remember last year when there were reports of coyotes dying from eating the dead fish but don't recall birds dying.
Thanks |
