I took this off the KRIS web site:
CORPUS CHRISTI - A bizarre incident in an Ayers Street parking lot leaves at least one man dead, and police are now searching for at least two suspects.
Around 2:30 a.m. Thursday morning, police said a Suburban pulled into the Hot Shots Billiards parking lot, and plowed into a group of people and several cars. Authorities said the SUV then came back around and hit one of the victims a second time, killing the 23-year old man.
Police said the driver abandoned the vehicle near the Crosstown Expressway and two suspects fled on foot. Officers said two other people who were hit by the truck suffered minor injuries.
The council should, if they follow their same logic for closing the beach, now push an ordinance closing all parking lots in Corpus. Nothing wrong with walking from your house to the store with an armload of items, if a reporter can walk 1800 feet with what was supposed to be a full load of gear, I bet she didn't walk back to her car, then you can walk from a store with your grocerys. People should feel safe walking in parking lots without the worry of vehicles running over them and should let their children enjoy parking lots. Better, turn all the parking lots into development to build businesses to generate jobs and tax base. Eliminate the parking lots up and down SPID and just think of all the new restaruants that can be built there and how healthy it will be for everyone to walk to them from their house and back home. This sounds retarded doesn't it, but it is the same logic the council used to close the beach. _________________ Mastergunner, supporter of hardheads for state fish of Texas |

I agree.
I think people should be better parents. By their logic, children can not walk down sidewalks, ride bikes in the street, or play in parks safely because of traffic. If traffic moving down the beach at 15 mph is dangerous, then faster speed must be even more dangerous. Why, all tthose 20 and 25mph school zones are just too dangerous too. Better not let people drive on the streets, because parents don't want to watch their children while they play in the streets on their bikes, with footballs, or anything else.
Let me be very clear, in a public place, if you are not watching your child good enough to make sure they do not run way away from the water's edge and past you and into traffic, you are not watching them well enough to make sure someone does not kidnap them.
You think it doesn't happen right in front of parents in busy locations, well they just put away a guy up here that kidnapped, raped and killed a little girl ( like 10 years old) at the big Fiesta celebrations afew years ago, during the day, on the weekend, aorund thousands of people when she got just a few feet from her family. Thats all it took, a few feet and a few seconds. No one in the crowd did anything to help. As the parent of a 7 month old girl, this scares the bejesus out of me.
As a parent, I know if I am watching her well enough to keep her from getting kidnapped, then there is no way she will ever have the chance to get hit by a slow, slow moving vehicle, because I will see her way before she gets into traffic.
The people truly on board because they think it safer, mainly for their kids, are just looking to be lazy parents. _________________ GOBZA!!!
