I am just curious what you guys think? I generally fish the "backyard" or a bit south. With this front pushing it should be dead for a day or two but I have a bunch of vacation I have to burn before the end of the year. Thursday is going to start out cool but end up being a nice day. I could go to a friends place and shoot a hog but would rather catch one on topwater or my fly rod.

Hey Rob,
Was out at NorthPack yesterday morning right at sun up. The Smacks and Kings were in there pretty thick. Even caught a 29 in king on a top dog. I was throwing spoons, Gotcha's, etc. However, the reds were in thick over on SouthPack. Those folks were chunking live/dead mullet and hooking up pretty consistently. Planning on hitting Northpack in the a.m. to see if those kings are still hanging around. I might take the fly rod if the wind isn't too crazy.

As far as I know the trip is still a go. Hit Don up on the FB page or website. My new job has me working most weekends, so my fishing time is relegated to the middle of the week (for now). I worked around the rocks with arties yesterday for trout, but no takers. Hopefully things pick up. I'm bummed I won't be able to make the PINS crawl. Make sure you pack a spare tire. I'm sure there'll be dead hardheads everywhere.

Not sure why you think the bite would turn off? These early fronts get fish eating. Tougher for us cause the water gets churned up but you know the fish still gotta eat. _________________ "Ya'll must eat a lot of fish" |

It's just sad to call these fronts "early." I remember REGULAR September fronts that pushed out the heat. Not this year. =([/u] _________________ Fish ON! |

| I am guessing fishing would be a little tough today but could be completely wrong. It seems the bite turns off for a day or so after these "fronts" move through due to the drastic change in weather. I did see a couple of boats this morning off of Laguna Shores. I am hoping tomorrow will be good. Hey Harris if you are free tomorrow you are more than welcome to tag along. I will probably spend most of my time wading and plan on fishing all day. |

I just got back from SouthPack, and the Spanish mack bite was roaring for a good 3 hours. I didn't throw anything but topwaters and was hooking up more than the people chunking mullet. I only saw a couple of reds caught. However, smacks on top (some of them quite large) was a blast. I finally got bit off before I left. I was just throwing a woodpecker Popa Dog and they were knocking the crap out of it. They wouldn't hit it if I was working it. I'd just throw it out, pop it a couple of times and let it sit....then WHAMO. Great way to spend my morning. I lost count of how many I caught. The tide was on it's way out , but the water was pretty clean on the surf side.
