Had to come to New Orleans on business, and hit Lake Borgne with my dad.
Fishing was suprisingly slow...threw topwater and plastic in what looked to be a very 'redfishy area' for almost 2 hours, and caught nothing...then, we hit the motherload.
I hooked and landed a platter, I mean a big fat flounder, then two casts later, caught a nice 25" speck...that's GIGANTIC for these parts as most trout run in the 12-16" range.
We ended the day with 24 trout, and a big fat flounder...all fish were caught on a Salt Pepper Deadly Dudly wiht a chartreuse tail on a 1/4 oz. jighead..bounced on the bottom.
Here's a pic of me with my big trout and flatty.
All the other trout were smallish 12-16" fish...nothing to brag about, but darn good to eat.
Now, to get on PINS and find some pomps!

| Nice flattie. I used to go to the Yscloskey gas plant on Hwy 46 once a year. I always wondered how the fishing was in those parts. |

Since they shut down the MRGO...things are kind of weird...the tides aren't what they used to be...and are different. I've always been a Shell Beach/Hopedale/Reggio guy, OR, some where along Hwy 23 between Port Sulfur and Buras.
I was really surprised at the trout we caught today...October is usually full on redfish BLITZ,and we never even saw a HINT of a redfish...just odd.
I did see a jack blow up on a pod of mullet about 10 feet in front of the boat...was very cool. The thing knocked a couple of foot long mullet about 6 feet in the air!
