Well I decided that, with Sharkathon coming up, it was time to tear my half a$$ rack off the Tahoe and build something much nicer.

The ladder also provides extra storage for taking stuff down the beach and hinges upward so that I can still get in the back of the truck when needed. I ended up just using treated plywood for the deck for now as I didn't have time to order a sheet of Starboard before this weekend.

The kids and I loaded up Saturday afternoon and ran down to around the 10mm along with my father-in-law and my buddy Drew. Birds were working the beach like crazy and this is what it looked like as far as you could see.

Got set up around 4 pm and started rigging baits immediately. Ran out a whole ray on the 80w, half a black drum on the 9/0 and a whole Sheepshead on the Daiwa 900. Around 10 pm the 900 took about a 15 second run but was dropped and never picked back up. The 9/0 got cut off at the braid around midnight and the stingray came back in whole when we got up. Ran a whole blue fish out on the 900 in the morning and it sat all day without getting touched. Live mullet produced blue fish and skipjack throughout the day and I picked up a nice 23" red on a live small skippie. Around 2 pm I say birds working about 600 yards offshore and bait getting hammered so I hopped in the yak with a bay rod and a nice shiny lure. Got out to them and it was HUGE skipjack that I played with for about 15 minutes. There were also plenty of 3-5 ft sharks cruising through them. Came back in and loaded up and got off the beach around 5 pm. It was a good time as always even though we struck out on the long rods.

Your talent to weld aluminum speaks for itself. One of these days I am going to do some exerpimenting and see if I can figure out the right settings for my welder for aluminum without blowing holes all thru it.

Good report and sounds like the day was fruitful.

Thanks for the compliments. Do you live in Corpus? I wouldn't mind coming by and helping you get your settings correct in return for a cold one.

Luke I'll definitely hit you up as soon as I have some time for btb.
