Thanks guys!!!
Just got back from Corpus a couple hours ago. Drove down last night and hit the sand and S. Packery early this morning. Did a run and gun down to the 5mm and back, then ran from the N. Sticks to Bob Hall stopping in a few promising spots. Then went over to Packery.
I hit the south sticks just as the sun was peeking over the water. Driving was fair, water clarity was around a 4 on a 1 to 10 scale. Slight chop but fishable. Started out with a silver side, red front, black top Livingston lure. One that makes the croaker noise in the water. 1st stop nothing, 2nd stop a small 14 inch speck. Then nothing. Third stop nothing and water was looking dirtier than north so ran back the other way.
Stopped right at the N. Sticks and waded out a bit after finding nothing in the wade gut. Got bit off by something toothy that left my power pro braid with a clean cut. Thinking smack, maybe king. Run back and grab a silver spoon, tie it on and head back out, nada. Drive north a couple miles, nada. Then next stop a couple small smacks, but not big enough to be worth cleaning, so caught and released.
Made my way to S. Packery around 8:30. Water there around a 3. Empty, except on guy sitting on the end with a few rods rigged up with various soft plastics. Very quiet. The walkway is alot slicker than I remember it being last time. Some thick stuff growing out there around 2/3rds of the way out.
Cast my silver johnson sprite all the way out and back with nada. One other guy was just getting there as I was heading out around 10:30.
Though no keepers caught it was still great to get out there. Sand between the toes is some good therapy. |
