| Yesterday the water looked real good and there was a fair amount of bait in the water. We staerted a pogy oil slick early and maintained it throughout the day,the spanish rolled in mid morning and hung out till dark. We did manage to land a few smacks thru the day,and also landed 1 king that weighed in at 20 lbs 3oun. There was 1 cobia hooked up on cut bait off the bottom, but pulled off at the pilling before I could get the galf in it, it was in the 25-30lbs. range. Today started off with the oil slick still working and the kings charging early. First run at 7:30and the last one around12:30. 5 kings hooked up and 4 put on the deck, weight ranging between 12-21lbs. They were not picky about what they hit: blue runners , watermellon shad, skipjacks, threadfin, and smalljacks.By the way the water still looked good when we left. Myself and all my acomplises had a fun and busy time, thanks for all the team work. |

While im on here what size PVC do you use for your rod holders Carolina Kinger.....i want to make a couple for this comming weekend. Im slowly putting all my gear together. Im buying that 4/0 for this weekend too. Im thinking 30#mono then 100#braid.....how many yards of each do you think? _________________ D. Askew |

I also enjoyed the weekend of fishing. Can't hold out like I use to but no matter how old I get that first bite gets the blood pumping. It's so great out at Bob Hall......a great big family. I also want to thank everyone for all the help and advice they give me! _________________ Tomorrow is another day! |

| I make my rod holders out of 2 1/2 gray electrical conduit. For the beach I bolt them onto the lightweight 3 or 4 foot T-posts. Easy to drive into the sand and holds well. |

2" pvc 3' long .On my smaller Okuma I used 25# mono topped by 65# braid. See how many yards of 25# mono it will hold and allow for a 100 yard top shot, unless you want more line capacity. The reason I like the top shot braid is so if the fish shoots the pillings he can't cut you off so easy. You can allways double the braid with the offshore knot and tie the tag end up as far as you want. |

I am getting that reel spooled up friday but i dont want to pay a fortune. But i definatly want max line capacity with my 309 getting close to spooled by 2 kings already. If i get that $30 king i might get spooled...dont want to take that chance lmao! I will probably see if you can show me how to do that double up offshore knot this weekend. I am probably respooling the 309 too.....hopefully the kings are there like last weekend if we can get the water to clear back up. _________________ D. Askew |
