Listen close or you'll miss it. I just dont want anything more than a depression or storm to come out of it. Last time we the remnance of ts Hermine, it flooded the Austin area so bad, they had to close schools. I dont want that to happen again

I am sorry for all the fishing that may get screwed up this coming weekend, but the need for rain overshadows the need for fishing. I would love for the storm to come in south of Corpus and just get stranded in South Central Texas for a couple of days and rain its heart out. Then let it go rain through west central Texas all the way to Oklahoma exiting the state by giving the Piney woods a good drink too.

i have been watching this for 3 days and forcast models depending on what day puts it landing north and south of Corpus Christi.

If anyone wants to know the site here it is:

Then turn on the forcast models. Neat stuff, but even under the best of conditions only a 2 day weather forcast can made with any sort of accuracy.

I have my fingers crossed. Some news articles puts it arriving in our area about Saturday. I hope I have to wear raingear to fish Saturday.

I just drove in from SW Oklahoma today and it is dry most of the way. There are areas where most of the trees have just turned brown.

I saw some cotton fields where only maybe 15% of the cotton planted even came up.

Also the Red River is north of Wichita Falls. This is only the second time in 80 years it has been known to dry up.

As for hurricane strength, try this weather prediction;

We are past the "B" and "C" of huricane names so Corpus is in the clear.

Can anyone think of past hurricanes beyond these letters that struck Corpus?

No, but South Padre has been hit by Dolly and Ike, so I wouldn't let my guard down.

As for the track of this storm, they keep moving it north. It may go in north of us and we will be on the dry side.

I'm with you, Lil Red. It's going to be a loong time before I get over Ike. I can think of a half dozen "advantages" to having a *little" tropical depression activity over our way. Trouble is, we don't get a vote on how much.

I've never thought about the effect on fishing (other than maybe seeing unusual- or new to me, species. Forgive me, please)
How does it affect fishing?
