Well, it finally happened. As of today, I'm retired! After working as a software test engineer for many years, today I was offered a severance package and I took it. It is the strangest feeling in the world knowing that I no longer have to drive in the Austin traffic on Mopac every morning and every afternoon.

I'll be spending more and more time at the coast and eventually we'll sell the house in Austin and move to the island permanently. I look forward to fishing with some of you guys. Sorry guys, I gotta run. I've got some living to do! Smile

Congrats high tide. Retirement is great. You can fish when you WANT and not when you CAN.

Congrats on your retirement. Now the only problem you have is that you can't take a day off.LOL. Enjoy and get down to the coast and catch some fish.

Congrats! That is my ultimate goal right there. Retire (or scale back to part time), sell the house in Austin, move to the island, and spend as much time on the water with my girl and my pals as possible!

Definitely a few years behind you, though.... but as long as I beat Frayed across the finish line I'll be happy. That way I can send him pics of all the fish I had to throw back because I limited out on a Tuesday. Smile

Now if I could only get a buyout package to cover me for another 10years I'd be set....
