My first child will be born 2 weeks prior to the tourny but I will be there or try to be there depending on the baby.
THIS IS WHAT I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR
My only complaint is that it would be nice to have it later in August when the winds are realy low and fishing is a bit easier but I guess the hurricanes could make a big deal during that time.
I LOVE THIS AND HOPE IT CONTINUES YEAR AFTER YEAR

Keep on Fishing

Sambo

winds are typically down in early - mid june, and by July 30, should be in the august weather pattern hopefully minus the Hurricanes. With an active season forecast, this was the best hedge-bet. Our back up date is August 27th. This is actually the 2nd annual event. We did the first one last year, but didn't brand it like we did this year. Hopefully this will continue to grow!

I see on the website that 50 kayak anglers are expected to participate. Does anyone know if that is accurate or if the numbers should be higher.
If 50 is accurate, I like those odds...as long as I catch something that is.

Rules: "Pedal drive kayaks are allowed. Sails and/or motorized mechanics for propulsion on kayaks are NOT ALLOWED to be used at this present time and the decision to use them may be altered officially at any point if the organizers feel its necessary. Mothershipping is not allowed in this tournament. You must travel over water under human power via paddling or pedaling."

I'm flying a kite from my kayak because it's... fun..... Honest!! Very Happy

I had a similar thought. I was wondering if umbrellas would be allowed...for sun protection. I've got some ideas floating
around in my head on how to attach one to my milkcrate behind me and out of the way.

I am a pasty white dude and need the shade. High SPF sunblock, long sleeve shirt, pants, and wide brim fishing hat work, but aren't very comfortable for long periods of fishing and paddling.
Plus sweat makes the sunblock run and get all over my things and in my eyes.
