Well, I'm not going to say much (because the local authorities are being contacted as we speak). What it boils down to is that surfers77 found a listing for a kayak on Craigslist, purchased it, and then did some research on the kayak he bought. After looking through some posts he realized the yak he got could be hot. Anyways, he found my original posting, contacted the original owners and returned the boat.
The core of it is that he (surfers77) did a GREAT thing and got some stolen property back to the owners. He did what ALL of us should do when purchasing a used boat off of sites like Craigslist: research the particular kayak, and ensure it's not hot. On the flip side of that, WE as kayak owners need to keep good records/pics of our boats (serial numbers, identifying marks, etc) to ensure that if our boats "walk away" we're able to put out that information to the authorities (as well as on sites such as TKF, Team OSO, Corpus Fishing, Laguna Madre Fly Fishers of Corpus Christi, etc) Pat (the original owner of the kayak) was extremely happy that Jesse did what he did. He really set a great example for the kayak/kayak fishing community. My thanks to him again. He's got some good fishing karma headed his way I'm sure.

Well, that goes without saying. Plus a little something extra as well. No worries. |
