Pardon the late reports. Fished Saturday, Sunday, and Monday between JFK and Pita. Real slow overall. Pulled a bunch of drifts but little to show. Had our best luck Saturday between noon and 2 p.m. drifting whitecapped, off color, two feet of water throwing white and newpenny Gulps. Boxed a few trout.

Saturday evening, winds had layed, nada.

Sunday morning, before the wind picked up, a few dink specks.

Monday late morning, light winds, water clearing before the wind picked up noonish, a couple of dinks, but nada.

Tried topwaters, various soft plastics, and Gulps. Suprisingly, we couldn't buy a red. Left scratching my head wondering about our bad mojo...will give 'em hell again this weekend.

Thanks for the reports, better late than never. Very Happy

The last few days when the wind has been blowing have been a little slow for me too. I couldn't find trout on the flats or in anything less than 4 feet really, but where I did find them was in deeper cuts with a lot of wind driven current. Like you, I got them on gulps. Also I found a few on the ICW dropoff where some birds were scattered picking at shrimp. I was using a DOA under a big az cork to try and get some attention through the choppy churned up water. The edge of the ICW in super windy conditions during spring break isn't a good place for kayakers to fish though, I got swamped numerous times.

Has been slow but steady for us, had a die-hard relative in town so we put some HOURS in and eventually managed some nice coolers both Tues n Wed. Primarily trout n reds with a flounder one day and same the next accept substitute a black drum for the flounder. As far as baits we threw just about everything and nothing seemed particularly better than the others. The redfish bite did seem to be better with a combination of high tide and high winds the last two weeks from my observations.

Thanks for reports, guys. Water around Pita has bee stained at best. Maybe 10"-12" visibility and that was Mon. With winds howling the last couple days I didn't even venture out.
