|
|
After the numerous posts about people blocking the road (on the EC forum mostly) out on PINS we hoped more people would pay attention to the rules of the park (keep both roads open, keep lines at waters edge, etc). Well on 1/29 we headed out and a group of guys at around the 20mm had their lines crossing the open road, some kind of camp in the middle of the road, then their trucks parked perpendicular to the water behind that. We stopped and let them know they should move their lines but they could care less. Hello? Move your damn rods at the waters edge and leave a space for people to pass through! Normally we would have taken a different action after this but we had guests with us so I had to gun it to make it through the soft sand to go around them, thankfully we didn't get stuck. To top it off they picked a place on the beach where it bottlenecked Here's a pic, not the best as it was from my phone. I would like to keep this an ongoing thread and if you have similar pics to post up please do so to make others aware.

I always leave room but I still piss some people off. No matter what anyone does, someone will always get angry. And when I get angry I don't take out their lines or day dream about beating them up. I hate that attitude. I just go on my way. Why do we feel the need to punish people? I'm not the judge and jury. Yea it sucks when people block the road like those jerks did, but I've been the jerk before and didn't think so, and chances are so have you and everyone else who fishes PINS regularly. I guess what I mean is, who the hell cares who blocked the road on your way south, what did yall catch?

| Just move the truck up ten feet and it would have been fine. But they probably thought some jerk would not go slowly between the truck and the rods and that happens. I wish we could get compliance on both ends it would make it much easier and less torn up in the Big Shell. |

Maybe you could have driven up to the back of their truck, asked them to move themselves and gear off of the normal/safe/common sense travel lane while NOT having to move the truck or rods, and passed just behind the truck and taught them a simple, common sense lesson................................
While there, you could have given them the forum address and they could come here and learned what dips--ts they were being, without you having to say a word about it!!!! _________________ Dave

Well that's just about right that's the norm everytime I go down Thier , then they look at you like your in the wrong because you have to down shift and go around them. Everytime I see this I blow as much black smoke I can and throw even more sand. The way I see it if you don't know how to drive in the sand enough to park out of the way drive to Jp with the rest of the morons, that crap makes me mad _________________ IF I DID NOT HAVE BAD LUCK I WOULD NOT HAVE ANY LUCK AT ALL!! |

Well it's not about punishing people it's about potentially getting stuck and damaging my vehicle. All they needed to do was park their truck parallel to the water to leave room for trucks to pass. It's not an inconvenience, it's a good chance of getting stuck because they're not following the park rules. We didn't catch much just a whiting and from the other people we talked to it seemed it was mostly whiting on PINS today. Also the last time we had to go around a group like this we did get stuck in 4X4, no reason to completely block one road. |

Ive seen way worse than that. At least no 2ft drop-off above them where its hell to go around. They could have pulled up a little, or moved thier gear off the road. _________________ -STAY THIRSTY MY FRIENDS!- |

Thing is we asked them to move nicely at first and they couldn't care less.
We explained to them how to solve the problem easily for us and every
other car that would be driving by soon and again they didn't give us the
time of day. You just can't be like that and expect good things to come
your way and people to leave you alone. Sooner or later someone will
do something about it especially if they get stuck on account of you. |

Yeah, as long as we could go in front or behind would be fine it was just a section of the beach where you practically had to get near the dunes to get around them being in a bottleneck area.
Someone from the EC forum posted the actual rule on PINS which would solve a lot of these problems:
"(d)(1) The number of fishing poles is limited to 6 per person. All fishing poles and lines will be
maintained at the surf’s edge."
Why do you need 15 feet of sand between your pole and the water? If you're in a platform that's different because most can pass under you. |

Just an opinion here, since I don't fish that area when I am down there, but if stuff like that keeps happening and enough people start complaining, the Admin over PINS might step in and shut the beach down completely.
Could be wrong, but from other threads I have seen on here it appears to me that the park Service is just looking for reasons to shut the place down to everyone. _________________ It is impossible to speak in a manner where you can not be misunderstood. |

I have to agree... some of the people on the beach just flat out dont belong down there. Its not so much knowing the rules. Its some simple common sense. "Hey cousin bob! I gotta new 4 wheel drive! Lets go drive down to that place..??? duh... Big shell". Then we all get to watch the coast guard rescue you off the beach. And a truck in the surf. (could serve as a new place to fish)
Quick story.. about 8 years ago. We were fishing about the 14mm. Our rods were set up at the shorline and the tide was moveing out. Trucks were parked on the other side of the low road. At the shoreline we had chairs, ice chest, shade canopy, a mini camp.
There was about 10-12 of us including 3 kids under 8years old playing in the sand. SOME @#&% SOB &$# a@# mother $%#@& driving a jeep drove UNDER our lines. I stopped him with some very kind words. he said I should check the rule book under beach etiquette. He recieve some good ol Texas boy etiquette. (remember the 3 kiddos)
After that I always bring traffic cones, and place them close to where we and our KIDS are going to be.
Now to the best part. We caught fish and had a blast. Im hooked on PINS. I have learned to drive arround the idiots that block the road and let my buddy blow his train horn as we drive by. It scares the crap out of them idiots. Think I might invest in one of those air horns for my truck. |

| Most likely they are not from the coast. Sometimes I let them know is a park policy not to block the low road for safety reasons and a Park Ranger might give them a citation. I don't know if there is such policy but it does the job. Other times by just looking who they are I just drive around to avoid any confrontations. |
