I am a new member here and I love this site
I have a quick question.I came down from Round Rock last weekend to do a little fishing and I was surprised to see not one bait stand open in Rockport harbor.I waited from 6am-9am but nobody showed. I was wondering if anyone knew of another area where I could get live bait in Jan.
Thanks |

Its a retirement community no one wakes up until 10 am. The they have to go to the bathroom. Actually I use to live over there and sometimes when it was cold the shrimp boats didn't run so there was no bait to sell. Or maybe it was a Vietnamese holiday. A little upper coast humor on that last remark. _________________ I LIKE MINE FRIED. |

Most of the baitstands on the causeway in Corpus have shrimp flags up and are open at regular hours. You might bring some of those Round Rock donuts next time. The bait stand guys would probably trade a pint of live for a dozen donuts! _________________ E Pluribus Unum |

Does anyone know if the bait stands are still at Cove Harbor and Palm Harbor? They would be a lot closer than driving to Aransas Pass or Corpus Christi. _________________ certified whiting slayer |

I fish that area. Cove Harbor is your best bet if anyone is going to have shrimp they will. Last couple of times I have gone they didn't have any live and only had frozen. The Salty Dog bait stand told me it was the time of year. The shimp boat is docked there and hasn't been out the few times I have been. Palm Harbor is not open very often. There is another bait stand in the Cove Harbor area but the last few times I have been there they weren't open.
Good luck and great to have you on the board. _________________ Diplomacy is the art of saying "Nice doggie" until you can find a rock.
