| Just wondering if someone could tell me what the average depth is on the channel that runs parallel and right next to the north side of the JFK causeway? thanks in advance! |

My best recollection is about 6-7 feet average. _________________ E Pluribus Unum |

Thanks guys,
Just looking for a place that I can flyfish when the wind is cranking from out of the south. My sinking flyline will work down to around 5' or 6', but not much beyond that. So, according to the answers given, it's one maybe, and two no's. |

look for tailing reds in the shollower waters between the channel and the causeway. _________________ I LIKE MINE FRIED. |

| It seems this area right up against the causeway usually gets some attention from the redfish tourney anglers but I drive it every day and look but never see any tails and it's pretty shallow. Seems like it could be a good afternoon spot on a sunny winter day though. |

| I have caught trout using a flyrod in the channel on the south side before. But I was in my boat drifting. |

| We went out this way yesterday and checked depths along the way. from the ICWW/channel intersection to about 3/8ths of a mile it was about 9 feet at the center. Past that it's about 6 until you get to humble where it slowly deepens. |

| I suppose that with water temps still in the 60's that the fish won't necessarily be hugging the bottom? I have noticed that advice for how deep to set lures/baits under a cork is often two to four feet. If that setup works in the channels, then I'm thinking I should be "in the game" with my fly setup. Once again, thanks for the info! |
