I HAVE BEEN TAKING MY LAB DUCK HUNTING WITH ME FOR THE PAST YEAR AND PLAN TO TAKE HER AGAIN THIS YEAR. MY CONCERN IS THE COLD WEATHER AND WATER FOR HER. DO THESE VEST REALLY MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN KEEPING THE DOG WARMER? OR AM I OVER THINKING IT BC THESE DOGS CAN NATURALLY TAKE THE COLD? JUST REMEMBERING HER SHIVERING ON HUNTS LAST YEAR. ANY THOUGHTS WOULD BE APPRECIATED? WHERE CAN I FIND THE VEST? _________________ I'd rather be Fishing! |

| I have seen my lab shiver on 65 degree days.... and not even think twice about going for aa swim in an Alpine Lake..... I think a lot of it is nerves. Rarely does it get cold enough in So Tx to seriously put a dog in danger. I would say that it does help keep them warm and certainly helps them swim- good flotation device. |

The vests are good for helping the dog on long deep retrieves since they float and make the dogs swin easier. They also help the dog from cutting/stabbing it self on brush and logs. I dont think they are tight enough to hold in much if any heat.
The dog I just had to put down after 16 years would start shaking when she saw birds before we did. Which happend alot once we moved down here and had a lot more sky to cover...
I think the best thing to do to keep them warm is bring some high protien snacks for them to munch. |
