For over a decade now, I have been a big Cholula fan. Well, over the weekend at a cook-off a friend of mine was smoking some oysters and whipped out a bottle of Tapatio. Well, I was fairly impressed with the flavor. At the store I was surprised to see the price of a bottle of Tapatilo was about 1/3 cheaper, and you get more per bottle.

Anyone out their put these 2 head to head?

No , but a good idea. I like them both and will give it a try. I also like Red Devil, Crystal Extra Hot and Trappey's green. Of course the Cholula has Chili de Arbol in it which makes it unique.

I saw the guys on American Pickers find a 3.5 liter bottle of Cholula! That might last me a year.

I don't have a favorite hot sauce. I have favorite hot sauces for different foods. Very Happy

Like Tyler, I haven't tried Cholula and Tapatio head to head, but like them both. I have really gravitated toward habanero based hot sauces for foods not of Tex-Mex origin or good ol' chile.

I just made tow big batches with the last of the pickings from my Garden. I had serranos, jalapenos, cayennes and some frozen habaneros from previous years. Made one pot of red and one bigger pot of green, but added the orange habies to it.

It's GOOD, freaking spicy and has a unique flavor that usually gets better with age. If I had to name the stuff, I'd call it: "Dave's, I can't believe how hot sauce"!!!! Cool

I like all of those mentioned.....................

Yes, especially chipotle tabasco. Okay it sounds gross but I like one or two scoopies with a bit of chunky peanut butter hit with a couple of shots of chipotle tabasco. Good stuff. I guess if mole has peanuts and chocolate and chilis in it then my combo makes perfect sense. Very Happy

One more - Valentina is also a chili de arbol based sauce and is cheaper than them both. I get the black bottle spicy about twice the size of cholula for 84 cents.
