Anyone know what happened out there today? We were on the NPJ and saw a CG chopper deploy a rescue person to assist what appeared to be someone laying near the water. Couldn't tell what was going on due to the crowd of people.

A man surfing either fell off his board and hit the bottom or his board hit him in the head. He was bleeding pretty bad and had a big knot on his forehead. Hopefully he is ok!

The Coast Guard did a good job recognizing there was a problem and deploying a medic to assess the situation.

Way to go Swimmer, bravo zulu my man. And lil-red, I'm not saying that we caught a lot of kingfish out there or the biggest bull dorado I've ever seen or a 60" sailfish on a russell spoon...but the CG has been know to do a little fishing when there's down time....

Thanks for the support guys! The job is awesome and the organization does great things.

The poor guy took a dive off his surfboard into 6" of water. Prolly very similar to diving into the same depth of water in a pool.

It was nice to get hoisted down in front of a crowd.. usually we do that way offshore, and unless we are hoisting off of a cruise ship no one ever gets to see it. I did feel like a bit of a ROCKSTAR!!
