It was very hot, and way too calm. Did manage a nice trout and a red that met the legal limit. I wish skippies were edible and I would have had a limit.Try again tomorrow??????

Is it just bones that make Skipjack inedible?? If so, I wonder if they could be pickled like Herring?? Or smoked.

Skip Jack Recipe:
1 Lemon, Sliced
1 scaled Skip Jack
1 Cedar Plank.
Salt and Pepper
Salt and pepper skip jack and place on cedar plank. Garnish with sliced lemons. Cook over hot charcoal fire for 20 minutes or until skip jack flakes off with a fork. Remove from coals. Throw away skip jack and cedar planks. Suck on the lemons. _________________

skips can be good eating... trick is fillet (remove scales optional) using a spoon remove carefully all flesh.. bones are attached to skin. add any seasoning you like (chili pepper a must for me) with a measured amount of baking power. chill in frig 6-12 hr, shape into patties. FRY - try you may like it!!

To each their own on eating fish or whatever. There are so many other species that eat great and take less BS to prepare, I wouldn't even bother!
Personally, I hate skipjacks. All they do is waste my time and interfere with me catching something that's worth catching, and to me that means something that WORTH eating!!!! _________________ Dave
