I have my dear ol uncle and family in town and they want to fish the surf. Since I very rarely surf fish, can y'all suggest locations where I can take them between say south of Port A and the north sticks where they might find fish. I was thinking about BH pier but I don't have a drop net. If packery or fish pass is going off, that would be good too. Thanks, D

If you are looking for an easy spot, try dune marker s 29 thru 30's as you hit the beach thru the golf course(access road 1A?). Or go down to access road 2, hang a left and go back and fish the surf right in front of the Mayan Princess. Good guts there in front of that complex.
The North Sticks have been slow this week with not much but a few whiting, sting rays and not much else, at least when we were there early in the AM thru noon.
Surf has been real slow this summer or maybe it is just my lack of mojo! A report would be appreciated.

Don't worry about not having a drop net; there is always someone on the pier with one and willing to help. Spanish macks and reds have been biting there lately.
If you do the surf, watch out for rays...10 days ago one of my visitors got hit in the ankle in the first gut....and the jellyfish have been pretty bad too [little ones...feel like fire ant bites].

Oddly enough, a little wind this time of year doesn't seem to mess up the surf as bad as it does in, say, March. Looking at the webcams just now, all looked fine. I hear the jetty calling me this afternoon.
