Ok heres the deal. I have an older (95) Z71 that has been sitting for about a year that I want to get rid of. I put fresh fuel, checked all fluids ect.. put the battery charger on it and bingo she fired right up, no knocks rattles, or smoke. I have a small farm that I drove around on without any problems, went through the gears no problems, engaged 4hi, 4low, all work fine. Heres my question, the oil pressure gage, fuel gage are pegged to the high side. Why? Is this an easy fix? I have time to pittle around but dont really know where to start nor do I want to spend alot of cash on this truck since it just sits.

Do they reset/bounce around when you turn the ignition off and back on?

| no, amp bounces and temp gage moves thats it. Im no mechanic but would like to fix this. |

Check your grounds for both guages and the ground for your fuse block.
You might also want to check the ground on the fuel pump.

I believe that is called the Sending Unit.
Call one of the Chevy Dealers and ask to speak to one of the mechanics they may be able to assist you with this.

| I've seen that happen before with a loose ground wire. In effect, something is being grounded _through_ the gauges and causing a lot more current through them than the current they're supposed to be measuring. |

What he said. I had the same thing happen on an old chevy. Never paid any attention to the 18ga wire dangling under th dash. Turns out it was a ground wire. Reconneted everything went back to normal.
