Just want to say I think this is one of the best forum sites I have seen. Most seem to be so much trash talk. I have joined this site because I like to take my family on a trip everyyear for Christmas and this year we picked Corpus. I have no experience at surf and jetty fishing. I did comercial fish on a 48' troller of the coast of Washington in 75-76 but that is a lot different that what you guys do. I have been looking as a guest for a couple weeks and have learned a lot but I am sure I will have many questions before we get there.
Congrats on willing your beach takeover bill. I could feel the passion you guys had for this. Not much beach front here in Ks. but I know what you guys are feeling.
Looking forward to good conversation with some great sounding guys.

Flatland,
Not only do we have the jetties and surf fishing but there are also some premium bay systems around Corpus. There is Baffin bay to the south, Redfish, Matagorda and Copano on the north side and then Corpus Christi and Nueces bay here at Corpus. Although I don't use them there are some excellent guides in the area. If you want, there are also some boats that make gulf trips for offshore fishing. Just thought I would let you know how diversified the area is. There are definitely some great fishing opportunities nearby.
Hope you enjoy your trip down.

Thanks for all the welcomes. I am still hoping to get down there between Christmas and New year. My wife is due with our 2nd baby the 2nd of Feb so still kind of in a hold pattern because of that but really want to be there. Is the fishing any good in Dec.? I have found other places that it may not be the best but since it is off season you can do pretty good. I am not much on catch and release I like to eat seafood so I try to catch fish for the freezer.

Howdy and Welcome Aboard! Indeed there is some FANTASTIC fishing (of all types) here in Corpus. I am from here (born and raised) and Tarpon_Tamer and I are raising our 3 kids here too. I absolutely LOVE it! I hope you have a great time here and get hooked on the fishing! You may find that you will want to make many return trips w/the family.
