Broad, street tread, with rounded edges. Mud grips are a big no-no on the sand. I don't know squat about sizes, brand names, etc., so I go to Packards on SPID in Flour Bluff and say "Barkeep, my usual!" I get free rotations and repairs there, too. If you're going to be driving over hardheads at PINS this season, keep Packards in mind.

On my 4ruuner I just replaced with a pathfinder I had goodyear wranglers. I made trips up and down PINS for 3 years at least 40 tomes a year, no flats, even after katrina and rita washed up tons of boards with nails, no getting stuck. The first time I drove the pathfinder 4 flats and almost got stuck, cooper tires. Of course I drove over 1000s of dead fish also Very Happy

My sotck Goodyear tires on my Durango do great. You want a tire that will roll over the sand, not bite into it, so stay away from very aggressive treads.

I suggest the Pro Comp A/T. They are a 8ply tire (littlle heavy) , Most other light A/T truck tires are 5ply at most. I have 33x12.50 on my F-150, and they have seen at least 30 trips down pins with no problems. Oh ya, & there get street tires.

If you are going to spend the money I agree on the tred patterns the fellas are suggesting and get a heavy ply tire. I hunt alot and drive in some bad areas and the 8 ply has yet to fail me. It can be the difference on side wall cuts, etc.

I have these 245/75/16 standard tires on my Jeep Rubican and they are great tires for offroad applications. These tires are noisy on the road but very durable and puncture resistant.

i have a set of mtr's for when i go play in the mud...great tire...for the mud. for sand on a heavy truck like mine i used to dig ruts all the way down the beach and back and used 3 times the gas i do now because of those tires digging ruts. hell i almost got stuck once because of the mtr's ability to dig. was driving down the beach and the sand was pretty nasty all loose and soft and blowing everywhere and i hit a real soft spot and sunk cause the tires just dug in so i switch to 4 low and crawled out of it. it was a good thing i was carrying 20 gallons of gas with me that trip just incase cause i had to use it all to get back to the pavement and that was with filling up at that last citgo before hitting the sand

I am on my second set of Coopers, for the money you can't go wrong. I used to have the Cooper ST-all terrain, they are not very expensive and are very strong. I have since moved to the Cooper STT, which is more of a mud terrain and they are awesome. A little louder on the road, but they are really tough with 8 ply and 4 ply sidewall.

Im currenty running Michelins. mainly a road tire, but on a 2wd truck.
Tires like anything else is a get what you pay for thing. Cant avoid flats no matter what tire you run. I recomend what they use on tanks.

BFG all-terrain's for the sand but if you venture out into the woods I would suggest going with the mud terrain’s. I personally run the mt’s and haven’t had a problem with them on the beach. I can generally run in two wheel drive all the way to the Mansfield jetty’s all it takes is a little finesse with the gas peddle to do this.

I agree, you don't want to get into any real mud with ATs, better safe then sorry in my eyes.
