Took a trip down to Matagorda. The surf was blown out and the weed was bad but we managed one shark and a few gaff-top catfish before we gave it up and went back to the pass. They are building a new East jetty on the island between the old jetty's deposited there by one of the hurricanes. I worked hard to net up some mullet and got a fat 18" speck and a lean 25 1/2" red. You can catch all the sand trout you want and some under sized specks at night under the lights fishing from the dock at the campgrounds.

| Matagorda Bay Nature RV Park is a clean well run full service camp ground. You will have to have reservations to stay the weekend. To get a river front site, you may have to reserve months in advance. L |
