This really makes me rethink the fact that I do not carry my firearm while on the water.. but even if I did I would only have 2 clips. But maybe if they had some shots returned they would of retreated.. or it could of also escalated the situation and made them fire more. What a bunch of crazy a holes.. Karma will get back to them.

I am very glad the men knew how to act in a situation like that. They saved there own life's.

The lowlife scumbags amaze me again.

Rob, where ya going to fire at? It was dark and they had no idea where the shots were coming from. Apparently the game warden didn't even see them with night vision. Utterly horrifying. Sickening. What type of human beings would fire at two innocent fishermen? What would possess you??!!!! How terrifying must it have been to not be able to explain in exact words where you were? Before I go out next time - GPS, check. Cell phone, check. Kevlar, Rifle, and night vision...check??? Scary.

Not to trivialize this but was there banjo music playing? I would assume so with such inbred idiots. How can someone do this to a couple of fishermen? An interrupted drug deal maybe or just some scum bags having a little "fun"?

Lots of scumbags back there along the railroad tracks. This is one of the most disturbing stories I've read in a long time. I work out there regularly and the gang grafitti is always a reminder that the area is frequented by the dregs of society. My first thought was, "if the fisherman had guns of their own", but firing off into the dark would not have made the situation any better. Sad stuff. I really hope they nail these guys and make an example of them.

I can't help but wonder once the game warden established where they were at, why wasn't SWAT or at least other law enforcement on their way? Seems he should have been able to direct them to the right local. Plus, they have these things called helicopters. Still, being armed would have helped if they suddenly were right on you. You don't have the range, but if they were actively looking for you and found you, it may save your life. I carry on Lake Travis cause you never know.

Isn't it odd that so many shots were fired and not even one round, thankfully, hit the men or their kayaks? Especially with rounds landing as closely as they men described. I'm not calling BS or anything but I think even I would have accidently hit something with that many shots. Just scratching my head over this story for many reasons.

Sounds like someone people were having some foolish fun. Glad they made it out ok. Hope they catch those low lifes! BTW, doesnt TD have a reddish hair and a goatee?
