went down to port aransas instead of bird island because of brown tide. it was like a homecoming for us. we've fished there for years before eventually heading further south. we fished hard on friday with very little luck (even with live shrimp). both our dads were in desperate need of some fish, so we actually bought live bait. saturday was a little different story. it was slow at first and we actually released 4 keepers because we didn't want to just clean 1 or 2 fish. about 3:30 we were entering a minor feeding period and that with the combination of an incoming tide, we managed to keep 7 black drum and 1 trout. we free lined shrimp in the cuts and we ran out of shrimp and left them biting for another day and time. here's a couple of pics. the fish averaged 5 lbs. each.
