Does anyone know the best place to find out what kind of sharks we can catch , and the best way to id them. All I know is that they have lots of Teeth, I would like to find out what is out here locally, and what is ok to keep, I have never caught any sharks except for some bonnet heads around the portland pier area. I just want to make sure that If and when i do that i only keep what i should. I do not want to piss of any conservationist, but I am uneducated on them. I know that certain sharks have very limited breeding ages to reach , So that is why I am asking ?
Is there any one that tastes better then the others, ( Fried ? )
Most of my fishing is from rockport, to the JFK Causeway.

If you usually fish in the bays you most likely will encounter bonnetheads, blacktips, spinners, bulls, and Atlantic sharpnose. I would concentrate on those species first.

Bonnetheads, blacktips, and Atlantic sharpnose have to be a 24" minimum length to retain. All other sharks in Texas would be a 64" minimum or not allowed to be retained.
