The weather reports said that the winds wouldn't be HOWLING until late morning. Finished breakfast, and the paper, and decided to go fishing. Bought a pound of shrimp and headed to SPJ. Got there about 9:30, put a shrimp on a small circle hook 4' below a cork and by 1PM caught AND RELEASED over 40 sheepshead. What a blast. Standing down on the rocks you couldn't tell how hellacious the winds had gotten.

The enjoyment was lost however, when a Filipino family showed up. There were sons, daughters, mothers, brothers, grandparents and even a baby in a stroller. They actually came down and stood on the same rock I was on and proceeded fishing. I said you're not really planning on fishing here are you and the reply was "fish here, I fish here". I was going to move but didn't want to give them the satisfaction of running me off. That was until they tangled up my line for the 3rd time. A--holes.

Anyway, it was a great day and now I have to tackle my honey-do list.

LOL. Like puppies.

I've noticed it too. I have found that certain FOBby (Fresh Off the Boat) peeps to have no problem getting in your personal space.

Sheepshead. . . I gotta catch some and try them. Only ones I've seen are in the flats and they had lockjaw.

Thats just sucks that you had your spot over run by all those 'Filipinos". They sure can overrun a good fishing hole......
I was fishing SPJ last year with my son when a "German" family came with the mother, daughter's, son's and non-english speaking grand parents and took over the end of the jetty. Crossing lines and drinking beer leaving there trash on the rocks, we also had to stop fishing....
I guess it can be all different cultures that can screw up a good fishing time...

I wasn't saying anything against Filipinos, but I was saying it about "people" who have no regard for others. It just happened that this family that affected my day, were Filipino.

I'm not sure that indicating that they were Filipino added anything to the conversation. One time I was fishing at Bob Hall pier (back when I used to fish BH) and this guy that was fishing there had at least 12 rods out. He didn't mind encroaching someone's space. He was just all over the place getting in people's way. I asked him where he was from. He told me that he was from Austin. His nationality didn't matter. He was still an A hole.

This "politically correct" garbage is craaaaap! If they were phillipino then they were phillipino. If they were german then they were german. There isn't anything wrong with stating nationality. They were what they were.

What bothers me is that both of you didn't have the guts to stand up to them, phillipino, german, or otherwise, and you both let them get away with it. When are people going to start standing up for themselves and deal with the problem. I'll guarantee you that my response would have been "you no fish here or I kick you a$$$$$$$."

Guess after 2 tours in Vietnam and now being over 60 i'm just a crusty old codger - but I will guarantee you - I won't put up with that kind of behavior.

Sounds like you had a good time till the potlickers showed up. Don't feel so bad I'll be miles down PINS nobody insight for miles and all of a sudden out of the blue some donkeys arse will park right next to me and my family and start fishing. I understand jumpin out of your truck and cast a few times and split. But come on setting up camp there Rolling Eyes . I'll just pull out the old video camera and start filming them, sometimes that works. Respect and common sense should be a universal thing! Thanks for the sheephead report. Sounds like theres plenty of em this year.
